Along the ancient trail
that passes "Anaeho'omalu" (now Waikoloa Beach Resort) on Hawai'i Island,
thousands of petroglyphs tell of those who stopped to record their passage over
the centuries.
Much speculation has been offered, but little is really
known about the meanings of these rock carvings. Some may have been clan
emblems; others may have commemorated events. They are treasured today as
evidence of the original culture of Hawai'i, irreplaceable and priceless.
